Many volunteers make up the Viña Board of Directors

Viña’s board of directors will meet February 2 and 3 in Guatemala. Along with other agenda items, they will be electing new officers. They need new Association members, and they are developing their partnership with VVMI (www.vvmi.org).

Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the commitment and service of the members of Viña’s board of directors. Please pour out grace and wisdom on their decisions and direction. Please raise up the people who will serve as officers and give direction for the future of Viña. Father, please provide new Association members who can get to know the ministry of Viña and someday join the board. Also bring open communication and connection between Viña and the ministry of VVMI. In Jesus name, Amen.

Other concerns:

• 500 copies of the first volume of Deditos episodes are on their way to be shipped to Guatemala. (https://www.videoscristianos.org/detail.taf?_function=detail&a_product_id=35986&refurl=/start.taf)
• A new person is joining the Deditos script writing team.
• Good communication for the preparations for the recording of the Buglere New Testament in Panama.
• Special help with filming complicated scenes that will involve adding digital effects later.

Let’s Pray:
Lord we praise you for the completion of the first volume of Deditos episodes, and an online distributor! Please protect the shipment of the first DVDs to Guatemala and move them through customs without problems. Thank you for the Buglere people of Panama, and that their New Testament is about to be recorded! Open the channels of communication so everything will be prepared in time.

Thank you for a new person to be involved in the script writing process. Integrate her into the team and bless them with clear and open collaboration, communication and understanding. And please give creative wisdom to the set up, creation and filming of the Deditos scenes so that they will work effectively with the final digital effects. Thank you that we can entrust all our cares to you. In Jesus name, Amen.

• Jonhy has joined the Viña staff this month. Pray for his transition and acceptance into the team.
• José Abel, our executive director is experiencing lower back pain and other health issues. Pray for his healing.
• The Western Pocomchi New Testament recording is in editing now. Pray for excellent results and the people will be ready to receive and use it.
  

  When the Western Pocomchi recording is completed, groups like this will meet to listen to the scripture in their own language.

• The Deditos episode “God Liberates His People” is being filmed now. Pray for good progress and an excellent result.
• The scripts are in the process of being written for the Wilderness and Jericho Deditos episodes. Pray for engaging, dramatic stories that will communicate eternal truths.

Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father thank You for your great love and care for us. Thank you that you invite us to give You all our concerns.

Please bless Jonhy as he integrates into the Viña staff. Show him how to help advance Viña’s mission and vision. We ask for healing for José Abel’s back and overall health. Strengthen him. Give him wisdom in how to stay healthy and how best to use his time each day. Also, please bless the editing process of the Western Pocomchi New Testament. Prepare the Pocomchi people to want, receive and use this recording to grow in their faith.

For Deditos, we ask for your help and blessing on the filming going on now. Pour out creativity and skill to present the story in an engaging way. Also, please guide the script writing process. May the stories communicate your goodness and inspire faith in the audience. In Jesus name, Amen.

It’s a fresh new year! We have many plans and hopes for producing new episodes of Deditos and producing other audio and visual products in minority languages. The first step is to commit our way to the Lord, for His plan and direction for this year.

Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your care and help in the past year. You are the All-wise and All-powerful One!

We come to you now to commit this new year at Viña to You. We put You in charge of all the planning. We put You in charge of the Deditos productions. We put You in charge of all the work ahead this year. Lead, guide and direct the work at Viña. Grant unity of spirit and peace over all.

Thank you Heavenly Father for Your care for us! In Jesus name, Amen.

Every year all the families of the Viña staff gather on the last day of work for a lunch and celebration of the year.

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” Mark 6:31a

Starting December 15, all the staff of Viña will take their vacation at the same time.  The studio will be closed until January 9.  This holiday season offers opportunities for the workers to spend time with their families. Some will travel.  Some will do projects on their houses.  Some will do extra work.

Let’s pray for refreshment in this vacation time:
Heavenly Father, thank You for work, and thank You for rest.  Thank You for the vacation time for the Viña staff.  Please protect each worker and their families in the travels and adventures of this time.  Bless them with good time with their families and children.  Bless them with sufficient resources to enjoy the season.  Work deeply in their hearts to refresh their souls.  Bring them back to work in January with renewed creativity and energy.  In Jesus name, Amen

Opening prayer at the teachers meeting

We are grateful that the teacher’s meeting went very well last Friday! There was a sense of unity, and a good connection with our content. The teachers seemed to value their language and the Deditos materials in Kaqchikel.

We are also celebrating that the Western Pocomchi New Testament recording has been completed! This took several weeks longer than most recordings take, but in the end was completed well. We pray now that the mixing process will go smoothly and the people will be prepared and receptive to use the recording when it is ready.

Let’s praise God:
Thank You Heavenly Father for blessing the meeting with the Kaqchikel teachers! Thank You for giving peace and unity. Thank you for their feedback and encouragement. We praise you for Your faithfulness to help us! Amen.

Thank You Father for helping Carlos and Isidro persevere to completion of this recording. Thank You for you grace and protection over their families during this time. We praise You for Your presence with us and Your constant help! Now please guide the mixing process and bless the results. Prepare the Western Pocomchi people to gladly receive, value and use the recording of the New Testament in their own language.

Provision

“So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, ‘On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.’” Genesis 22:14

This time of year brings extra expenses to celebrate the holidays. And in January the new school year begins in Guatemala, and families must buy school supplies, notebooks, clothes, etc. Many of our workers have families with several children, and their resources are stretched thin at this time of year.

Let’s pray for their good provision:
Thank you for all the workers at Viña! Thank You for their hard work and dedication to You! We lift up to You their needs. Thank You for being the Lord who provides! Pour out Your provision on them! Give them wisdom in how they use their resources. Give them generous hearts to also be givers to You and to others who are in need. We trust You to help and provide for them in the coming months! In Jesus name, Amen.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

This Friday, December 2, Viña will host a meeting of about 30 teachers who taught the first two Deditos episodes in Kaqchikel in their churches. The meeting is to thank the teachers for their participation, and also to solicit feedback from them about the materials.

Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for all the children who were taught about You through these Deditos episodes in Kaqchikel! Continue to remind them of the truths they learned. Thank you for the teachers. Please bless them in the meeting on Friday. Encourage them to continue using their own language to teach children. We ask for a spirit of unity among the various church groups that will be represented. We ask that the teachers will give honest and useful feedback on their experience using the Deditos materials. In Jesus name, Amen.

Someone has volunteered to be the voice of the devil for the Western Pocomchi New Testament recording! Thank you for praying!

Carlos and Isidro continue to record the New Testament in Western Pocomchi. The process has been going slowly partly because this translation uses many words to explain concepts, so each passage is long. But a new problem has come up. No one wants to play the part of the devil in the recordings!

Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for the progress that has already been made on recording the Western Pocomchi New Testament! Thank you for Carlos and Isidro and their perseverance and skill. Continue to bless and guide the process. And continue to encourage, protect and watch over their families while they are gone.  Now, please give someone the courage to play the part of the devil. And bless them and protect them from fears and problems when they do the recording. In Jesus name, Amen.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

• Viña workers are making the scenery for the first episode of Moses in the Deditos series.
• Sarah and Marcia are considering which themes to focus on in writing the script for the Joshua video.
• Now Pedro is editing, masterizing and mixing Deditos videos in Spanish and Garífuna.
• Carlos and Isidro are continuing the recording the New Testament in the Pokomchi language. The person who was chosen for the voice of Paul had appendicitis recently and is in recovery.

Let’s pray:

Lord, thank You for all You do, how You hear and answer our prayers! Thank You for guiding Sarah and Marcia as they write scripts for the Deditos videos. Please guide them as they consider which themes to focus on in writing the script for the Joshua video. Thank You that Pedro finished masterizing and mixing materials in Kaqchikel and Pokomchi. Please guide him as he edits Deditos in Spanish and Garífuna. We also thank You for the work Carlos and Isidro are doing to record the New Testament in the Pokomchi language. Please continue to guide them and heal the person who is going to be the voice of Paul. Thank You for taking care of Carlos and Isidro’s families while they are away. Please also provide for the families of the other Viña workers. Guide Miguel and help his daughter to register for the high school she wants to attend. Please give her family peace as she leaves the house next year and provide for the extra costs involved in this transition. Thank You for the way You are healing Edgar’s leg. Please give his family wisdom as they are making a big decision. Also, please heal Carlos L’s leg as well. We ask You to take away the pain of the sciatica and help him to be able to do all the work that he has to do.

There is a lot going on at Viña these days!

• The filming of the Deditos Joseph episode is officially finished and the filming of the Moses episode is beginning.
• Sarah and Marcia are revising the lessons for the Deditos episode of Joseph.
• Sarah and Marcia are also refining the scripts for the Deditos episode about the wilderness wanderings.
• Pedro is masterizing and mixing a variety of materials in Spanish, Kaqchikel, Garífuna and Pokomchi languages
• Carlos and Isidro are currently recording the New Testament in the Pokomchi language.
• Edgar, one of Viña’s administrators, was in an accident last week. Thankfully, he did not have grave injuries. However, he still has some leg pain.

Let’s pray:

Dear Lord, thank you for all the work you are doing in and through Viña. Thank you that the Joseph episode is finished. Please give the film crew your wisdom and creativity as they begin to film the following episode. Also, please give Sarah and Marcia wisdom as they revise and refine the lessons for Joseph and the wilderness wonderings. Help them to communicate well the feelings surrounding the 40 years in the wilderness and what it means to be the people of God. At the same time, please guide Pedro to balance his time with the many projects he is in charge of. Please give Carlos and Isidro your strength and perseverance as they record the New Testament in Pokomchi and keep their families safe. We thank you that Isidro’s wife is feeling better. Now we lift Edgar up to you. Please heal his leg. Give him rest and help him to recover well. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
